Presentation of Pinos Genil

The municipality of Pinos Genil (1,490 inhabitants in 2020; 1,398 ha) is located just south of Granada. The municipality is composed of the villages of Pinos Genil (1,191 inh.) and Los Pinillos (283 inh.).

Symbols of Pinos Genil

The flag and arms of Pinos Genil, adopted on 29 December 2020 by the Municipal Council and submitted on 21 January 2021 to the Directorate General of the Local Administration, are prescribed by a Resolution issued on 22 February 2021 by the Directorate General of the Local Administration and published on 2 March 2021 in the official gazette of Andalusia, No. 40, pp. 193-195 (text).
The symbols are described as follows:

Flag: In proportions 3 units in length on 2 units in width, divided into three horizontal stripes, the upper (I) and the lower (III) vert and the central (II) wavy azure. In the center of the central stripe (III), charged in a wave, the municipal coat of arms fully outlined argent, its geometrical axis matching the flag's center, in width 2/3 of the flag's width.
Coat of arms: Shield with a plain gray field on which are placed, forming a single image, the five elements elected as representative of the municipality. In base, vert, the territory's fertile fields crossed by three horizontal waves azure representing river Genil; in the center a pomegranate argent; over it the bridge that connects the two banks of the river, with a single-arched and an angular external pert, over which stands the silhouette of the church and a pine sable.
