The municipality of Fuentes de Carbajal (124 inhabitants in 2009; 3,213 ha) is located in the south of the Province of León, at mid distance from Valencia de Don Juan and Valderas. The municipality is made of the two villages of Fuentes de Carbajal and Carbajal de Fuentes. The name of the village means "Fountains / Sources in the oak grove"; carbajal is cognate with Leonese carvayo / carvajo and Galician carvallo, "an oak".

The flag and arms of Fuentes de Carbajal are prescribed by a Decree adopted on 17 February 2009 by the Municipal Council, signed on 3 December 2009 by the Mayor, and published on 22 January 2010 in the official gazette of Castilla y León, No. 14, p. 4,100 (text).
The symbols are described as follows:
Flag: Rectangular flag in proportions 2:3, made of two equal horizontal stripes, 1/2 and 1/2, the upper green and the lower crimson red, separated by a golden fimbriation, with a vertical white stripe of 1/3 of the flag hoist charged with the municipal coat of arms.
Coat of arms: Per fess, 1. Or a fountain [fuente] gules with two pipes azure flanked by two oaks [carbajos] proper, 2a. Vert a tower argent masoned sable, 2b. Argent a lion rampant purple armed langued and crowned or. A border gules with the writing "Fuentes de Carbajal". The shield surmounted by a Royal crown closed.
