The municipality of Maraña (147 inhabitants in 2010; 3,357 ha) is
located in the north of León Province, 100 km of León.
Maraña is part of the Picos de Europa Regional Park; river Esla has
its source in the municipal territory.

The flag and arms of Maraña are prescribed by a Decree adopted on 24 September 2001 by the Municipal Council, signed on the
same day by the Mayor, and published on 15 October 2001 in the official gazette of Castilla y León, No. 200, p. 14,898 (text).
The symbols are described as follows:
Flag: Rectangular flag with proportions 2:3, made of a green panel with a white triangle whose vertices are the lower fly and hoist and the midpoint of the upper edge of the flag, charged with a red pillory.
Coat of arms: Per fess serrated of three pieces, 1. Argent a pillory gules, 2a. Gules a horse galopant argent, 2b. Vert a one-arched bridge argent. The shield surmounted with a Royal crown closed.
