Presentation of Fortuna

The municipality of Fortuna (9,714 inhabitants in 2014; 14,850 ha) is located in the east of Region of Murcia, on the border with the Valencian Community (Province of Alicante), 25 km of Murcia. The municipality is made of the town of Fortuna and of the villages of Garapacha, La Gineta, La Matanza, Caprés, Las Casicas, Peña de Zafra de Arriba, Peña de Zafra de Abajo, Los Baños, Fuenteblanca, Ramblada Salada and Hoya Hermosa.

Symbols of Fortuna

The flag of Fortuna is prescribed by a Decree adopted on 31 March 2009 by the Municipal Council, signed on 1 April 2009 by the Mayor and published on 16 April 2009 in the official gazette of the Region of Murcia, No. 86, p. 16,168 (text). The Decree does not appear to have been validated by the Government of the Region of Murcia.
The flag is not described in the Decree.

The coat of arms of Fortuna is prescribed by Decree No. 1,098, adopted on 9 May 1968 by the Spanish Government and published on 3 June 1968 in the Spanish official gazette, No. 133, p. 7,988 (text).
The coat of arms, which was validated by the Royal Academy of History, is described as follows:

Coat of arms: Or three mounts vert forming a cordillera in base waves azure and argent a spring argent split into two parts. The shield surmounted by a Royal crown.
