The flag and arms of Las Casas del Conde are prescribed by a Decree
adopted on 28 May 2006 by the Municipal Council, signed on 8 June 2006
by the Mayor, and published on 26 June 2006 in the official gazette of
Castilla y León, No. 122, p. 12,228 (text).
The symbols are described
as follows:
Flag: Rectangular flag with proportions 2:3, made of a gules (red) panel, in the middle the municipal coat of arms.
Coat of arms: Per pale, 1. Or an olive tree proper, 2. Argent a bend sable (black) a chain or with eight escarbuncles in orle. The shield surmounted by the Royal crown closed. The second quarter shows the arms of the House and State of Zúñiga, recalling that the Counts of Miranda del Castañar (a branch of Zúñiga) were once lords of Las Casas del Conde [lit., The Count's Houses].
The House of Zúñiga, one of the oldest Spanish noble lineages, descends from the Kings of Navarre.
