Government to interfere with the management of the Church and was
forbidden to attend the Vatican I Council (1869-1870).

The flag of Macotera is prescribed by a Decree adopted on 4 July 1997
by the Salamanca Provincial Government, signed on 9 July 1997 by the President of the
Government, and published on 21 July 1997 in the
official gazette of Castilla y León, No. 130 (text).
The flag is described
as follows:
Flag: Quadrangular flag, with proportions 1:1, tierced per bend sinister white, red and white. In the middle of the flag is placed the municipal coat of arms in full colors, surmounted with a Royal Spanish crown.
The Royal Academy of History found no objection to validate the
proposed flag. The height of the red stripe is 1/3 of the flag's height.

The coat of arms of Macotera is prescribed by Decree No. 2,183,
adopted on 5 August 1962 by the Spanish Government and published on 7
