The flag of Burguillos (photo, photo, photo, photo) is crimson red with the municipal coat of arms in the middle.
The coat of arms of Burguillos, adopted on 21 November 2013 by the Municipal Council and submitted on 13 December 2013 by the Municipal Council to the Directorate General of the Local Administration, is prescribed by a Decree adopted on 7 January 2014 by the Directorate General of the Local Administration and published on 21 January 2014 in the official gazette of Andalusia, No. 13, p. 165 (text).
The coat of arms is described as follows:
Coat of arms: Shield in French, or Portuguese shape, with lambrequins. Per pale, 1. Gules a tower or forming a two-storeyed fortress the gate closed two windows in the first storey and one in the second the gate surrounded by two jays argent affronty a base vert, 2. Azure a Cross of Calatrava (voided) argent. The shield surmounted by a Royal crown open, or ancient.
According to the municipal website, "the coat of arms is very interesting and beautiful, from the heraldic point of view, featuring a series of elements of great symbolism and of odd elegance, rarely used in municipal coat of arms."
The tower represents the fortress around which the town developed. The jays - previously, doves - are imaginary birds symbolizing fortune. The Cross of Calatrava, which recalls that the town belonged to the Order of Calatrava, is represented with odd colours, being historically gules on a field argent.
