CSD (Wikipedia) is an autonomous government organization for directing the
development of sport within Spain. It was established through Decree
No. 2258/1977, of August 27, although it traces its roots to the
Delegación Nacional de Deportes (DND; Wikipedia), which was established on February 22, 1941. In 1956 it changed its name to Delegación Nacional de Educación Física y Deportes (DNEFD), dependent on the Minister-Secretary General of the Movement (of FET y de la JONS) until
the Dictatorship came to an end and all the institutions were dismantled, which ocurred
to the DNEFD on April 1977 and its duties were taken over by the
current CSD.
CSD is currently dependent of the Ministry of Culture and Sport.
