Garasu no Kantai [Glass Fleet] is a rather odd series which seems to
be loosely based on the events of the French Revolution, only - for some
reason - transposed into space. Specifically, it follows a war between
the League of Nobles, the People's Army, the Holy Empire and some
monarchists, representing if I'm not mistaken the Ancien Regime, the
Jacobins, Napoleon and the Bourbons, respectively (the series seems to
expect one to root for the latter).

The Empire has a flag, which is red with an extremely
intricate coat of arms-type thing, basically a baroque mantling around a
bunch of weapons surrounded by many roses.

The Church of the Black Cross, which is the Empire's established faith
and a kind of funhouse-mirror space Catholicism (complete with pope).
Its flag is shown in episode 1, and is a black field with
a complicated device referred to in the series as 'the Black Cross.'
The emblem is not a galaxy (as one might guess) but a stylized
depiction of an accretion disk of matter being sucked into a black hole.

The series' Commoners' Army also has a flag, a plain blue field with its
emblem, two rings of broken chains around a red blob, with two white birds
in flight off to the sides.
