The flag used in front of the department buildings in Aurillac (photo, photo) is white with the logo unveiled on 9 February 2009.
The logo "evolved towards more modernity while respecting the
fundamental values of Cantal"; this reflected "a core program" presented
as the "symbol of the new dynamic" initiated in 2009.
The mountain stylized by a green "pencil stroke" emphasizes modernity
[through style and color code], dynamic [a firmly moving department] and
continuity with the former logo [the former green triangle].
The color and calligraphy of the words "cantal" and "LE DÉPARTEMENT"
are, of course, borrowed from the red rectangle of the territorial brand
"Cantal AUVERGNE" to mean the Territorial Collectivity.
The colors are specified as follows:
Pantone CMYK RGB Red 186 C 0 100 51 4 220 0 46 Light green 376 C 25 0 100 0 212 214 0 (opacity 70%) Dark green 376 C 50 0 100 0 151 190 13 Gray shadow 7544 C 30 5 0 80 63 76 86 (opacity 70%)
The typefaces are the same as for the "Cantal AUVERGNE" brand:
cantal: Helvetica Neue 95 Black
LE DÉPARTEMENT: Din Regular

Banenr of arms of Cantal - Image by Olivier Touzeau, 22 February 2019
A banner of the arms of the department, in inverted colors, was used in front of the seat of the General Council (photo); the flag was also seen on the main square of the town of Mauriac.
The coat of arms of Cantal was assigned by Jacques Meurgey de
Tupigny & Robert Louis in Marques symboliques des départements français, as "Or a gonfanon gules fimbriated vert charged with an escutcheon 'Azure a bend or cantonned by six scallops argent in orle".
Created in harmony with the arms of Puy-de-Dôme, the arms of Cantal associates the gonfanon of Auvergne with the arms of gthe former Baronny of Aurillac.
