The flag of Saint-Méloir-des-Ondes (photo, photo, photo, photo) is white with the municipal arms, "Per pale, 1. Azure a dexter hand appaumé argent, 2. Argent two fesses wavy vert. A chief or a fleur-de-lis gules surrounded by two scallops argent", and the name of the municipality above.
The hand represents Méloir, prince of Cornwall, who had the right hand and the left foot cut by his uncle Rivod. Unable to hold a sword and ride a horse, Méloir was overthrown by Rivod. Partizans of the new prince, however, offered him prostheses made of silver and bronze, which allowed him to expel the usurper.
The fesses wavy represent the "ondes" (French, "waves").
The two scallops and the fleur-de-lis are taken from the arms of the abbey of Mont-Saint-Michel, whose monks founded the parish of Saint-Méloir-des-Ondes in the 11th century.

Another tradition reports that Méloir / Mélar was aged 7 when his father St. Miliau was killed by his brother Rivod. He had the right hand and the left foot and was eventually murdered near Lanmeur, where part of his relics were kept in a crypt until the Northmen invasions.
St. Méloir is the patron of the churches of Lanmeur and Locmélac, and of the chapels of Irvillac, Plouézoc'h, Plouigneau (ruined), Plounéventer, Saint-Jean-du-Doigt, as well as of suppressed chapels of Giumaëc, Plobannalec, Plozévet, Querrien and Saint-Cadou.
