Presentation of Moncontour

Moncontour (993 inhabitants in 2020; 4,006 ha) is a commune in the Vienne department.

It was the site of the Battle of Moncontour, which occurred on 3 October 1569 between the Royalist Catholic forces of King Charles IX of France, commanded by Henry, Duke of Anjou, and the Huguenots commanded by Gaspard de Coligny.
