SeaFrance (website) was formed on 1 May 1996, succeeding Société Nouvelle d'Armement Transmanche (SNAT). SeaFrance is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the French national railways (SNCF), which already owned 86% of the shares of the renamed company.
SeaFrance is the only French shipping company operating ferries in the
Strait of Dover, carrying more than 3,000,000 passengers every year on the Calais-Dover line. The ferry line was founded in 1841 jointly by the United Kingdom and France to link the railways of the two countries.
SeaFrance operates four ferries, the SeaFrance Rodin (2001), her sister-ship SeaFrance Berlioz (2005), the SeaFrance Molière (2008, the first ferry longer than 200 m operated in the Channel), and the SeaFrance Nord-Pas de Calais (1987, dedicated to freight).

The house flag of SeaFrance is white with a blue isosceles triangle in the upper hoist and a red one in the lower fly. In the centre is the company's logo. The flag appears to be a "modernized" version of the house flag of the SNAT.

According to Brown's Flags and Funnels of Shipping Companies of the World (1995) [lgr95], the house flag of SNAT is white with at top hoist a blue triangle, at bottom fly a red triangle and in center two intertwined red and blue "boomerangs".
