An interesting discovery was made recently in the archives of the British Arctic Territory Lighthouse Authority (BATLHA) near the coastal vacation and resort city of Brr.

This apparent unfinished prototype design for what, it must be assumed, would have been the BATLHA organizational ensign was found in the abandoned desk of the noted Chief Vexillologist for the BAT Naval Admiralty, Dr. Clayton Moss. You will remember perhaps, that the BATLHA was the ill-fated federal governmental committee attempt to establish a chain of cost effective mini-lighthouses along the dangerous northernmost BAT shores during the recession of the early 2000s. Unfortunately for this well thought-out plan, it ran into a snag when it was discovered that young polar bear cubs, called Teddies by the local population, were fascinated by the blinking lights of the miniature lighthouses and began "lighthouse tipping" for entertainment. The plan ran into further complications when it was discovered that the rock formations that many of the mini-lighthouses were placed on were in fact icebergs and they tended to float away causing larger navigational problems for the British Arctic Territory Guard/United Air and Naval Organization (BATGUANO) than the previously unmarked and dark northern shores had caused to the heavy northernmost shipping lanes in the first place.

This prototype ensign then, remains just an another example of what the group mind of politicians and committees can conceive, or as the often quoted David Cobitz observed: “A committee can make a decision that is dumber than any of its members.”
