Model boat clubs are devoted to the hobby of building and sailing miniature model ships and have existed since the late 19th Century. Some of these clubs have adopted burgees, in the same manner as 'actual' yacht clubs; however these burgees are mostly displayed as logos, rather than actually flown.
All of these clubs sail miniature model ships, some (but not all) of which
were built by the club members themselves.

yacht club in the UK, incorporating the Model Yacht Sailing Association (founded
in 1876).

The London Model Yacht Club has acquired the Model Yacht Sailing Association. On
the burgee, the London Model Yacht Club is represented by the shield of the City
of London (even though it is based in Kensington Gardens which is outside the
City of London), while the Model Yacht Sailing Association is commemorated by
the letters 'MYSA' at the hoist.
