Flag and Arms used during the Nguema regime (1973-1979)

Under the regime of Francisco Marcia Nguema between 1973 and 1979 different Arms were in use which also featured on the national flag.
Nick Kariyasu, 10 April 1998

During the Nguema period the coat of arms found on the state and war flags and ensigns of Equatorial Guinea were changed.  The Arms featured a combination of different tools and swords with a cock over all.  The amended national motto appeared on two stripes, Trabajo (work), and Unitad, Paz, Justicia (Unity, Peace, Justice) below, in the middle of the arms.  This flag is shown in Flags and Arms across the World by Whitney Smith (1980) [smi80] with the proportions of 5:8~ (whereas the 1968 flag was 2:3~).
