Presentation of Marousi

The municipality of Marousi (72,333 inhabitants in 2001, 1,264 ha) is a northeastern suburbs of Athens. The Athens Olympic Sports Complex, the largest sports complex in Greece, is located in Marousi.

Marousi dates back to the era of the ancient Athenian Republic; its ancient name was Athmonon, and it represented one of the 10 Athenian sub-cities. The area held a main ancient temple, where Amarysia Artemis, the goddess of hunting, was adored, and the town modern name (Amaroussi) derives from that of the goddess, Amarysia.

The municipality was not changed with the 2011 local government reform.

The flag of Marousi (Kokkonis website) is white with the logo, showing goddess Amarysia Artemis.

I corrected the colors of the logo on the flag according to the web data.

I found and drew a flag that I believe is older than the current one. Apparently it is still used sometimes.
