The symbols of Grubišno Polje are prescribed by Statutary Decision Statutarna odluka o grbu i zastavi Grada Grubišnog Polja, published on 19 December 2003 in the Town official gazette Službeni glasnik Grada Grubišnog Polja, No. 13. The symbols, adopted as proposals on 18 October 2000 by the Town Assembly, were approved on 21 November 2003 by the central authorities. The original Decision was superseded by Decision Odluka o grbu i zastavi Grada Grubišnog Polja, adopted on 22 October 2009 and published in Službeni glasnik Grada Grubišnog Polja.
The symbols are described in Article 4 of the Town Statutes Statut Grada Grubišnog Polja, adopted on 2 February 2006. This is repeated in Article 5 of the Town Statutes Statut Grada Grubišnog Polja, adopted on 29 June 2009 and published in Službeni glasnik Grada Grubišnog Polja, No. 6, and in Article 8 of the current Town Statutes Statut Grada Grubišnog Polja, adopted on 18 February 2013 and published on 19 February 2013 in Službeni glasnik Grada Grubišnog Polja, No. 1.
The symbols were designed by Vjekoslav Lavo Masten, a painter from Daruvar, who also designed the modernized, current arms of Daruvar.
The flag is in proportions 1:2, yellow with the coat of arms in the middle.

Coat of arms of Grubišno Polje - Image by Željko Heimer, 12 May 2007
The coat of arms is "Vert a jousting helmet manteled gules and or, issuant from it a virgin clad gules with wings displayed or and crowned of the same.".
The Statutes claim that this is the historical coat of arms of the town. The design was indeed inspired by the historical arms of the Counts
of Iločki (Ujlaky de Illok), which included a crested helmet with those contents. The Iločki ruled the place in the 15th century, when the place name was first recorded.
