The coat of arms, based on the former arms, is "Azure a St. Mary's crown or, in chief two fleurs-de-lis argent and in base a lace clapper or with a string argent."
The crown refers to St. Mary, patron saint and namesake of the municipality while the fleurs-de-lis represent Donji Mihaljevec. The lace clapper represents the lacework the region is famous for (Grb i zastava do Dana Općine, Međimurje, 28 February 2006; Utvrdena općinska obilježja, Međimurje, 27 June 2006).
