The symbols of Jelenje are prescribed by Statutory Decision Statutarna odluka o grbu i zastavi Općine Jesenje, adopted on 10 September 2010 by the Municipality Assembly and published on 17 September 2010 in the County official gazette Službeni glasnik Krapinsko-zagorske županije, No. 20 (text).
The symbols were blessed on 24 June 2010 during the celebration of the Day of the Municipality, following a ceremonial session of the Municipality Assembly.
The symbols were designed by Antonio Grgić, from the Pikant Marketing company.
The flag is in proportions 1:2, green with the coat of arms, bordered yellow, in the middle.

The coat of arms of Jesenje appeared in the header of the April 2010 issue of the Radoboj-Jesenje gazette Radobojsko-Jesejanjski list, glasilo opčina Radoboj i Jesenje, No. 23, released on 23 April 2010.
The emblems refer to the patron saint of Jelenje, Saint John the Baptist, the chalice pouring water with the dove symbolizing the Holy Ghost.
To a citizen's inquiry about the Municipality coat of arms (16 February 2007, municipal website - page no longer online), an official answered that there was none so far, explaining that the municipality had no planned budget to allow for obtaining one.
