The municipality of Marijanci (2,719 inhabitants in 2001, 935 in the village of Marijanci) is located 40 km north-west of Osijek. Beside traditional agriculture, sources of income in the municipality are industries for the exploitation of natural gas and petroleum.

The symbols of Marijanci are prescribed by Decision Odluka o grbu, zastavi i počasnoj zastavi općine Marijanci, adopted on 31 March 2008 by the Municipality Assembly and published in 2008 in the Municipality official gazette Službeni glasnik Općine Marijanci.
The symbols are described in the Municipality Statutes Statut Općine Marijanci (text), adopted on 13 July 2009 and published in 2009 in Službeni glasnik Općine Marijanci.
The symbols, designed by the Heraldic Art d.o.o. company, from Rijeka, were approved on 16 June 2008 by the Central State Office for Administration.
The flag is in proportions 1:2, blue with the coat of arms, bordered yellow, in the middle.

The coat of arms of Marijanci depicts the traditional iconic depiction of St. Mary, as "Argent St. Mary clad argent caped azure haloed or standing on a crescent also argent over a snake grey eating an apple gules all on a globe issuant azure".

The ceremonial flag is a blue gonfalon ending with three triangularly ending tails with golden fringe along the bottom, the coat of arms in the middle, the name of the municipality above and ornaments of oak and wheat (flag in use, photo) or birch (origial design, image) in the tails.

The table flag (photo, photo, photo) is like the ceremonial gonfalon, but in simplified shape - vertical, triangularly ending blue flag bordered yellow with the coat of arms in the centre, the municipality name above and the three ornaments below.
