Presentation of Jelenje

The municipality of Jelenje (4,677 inhabitants in 2001, 410 in the village of Jelenje) is located about 10 km north of Rijeka, upstream on river Riječina ("River of Rijeka"), some 500 m above the sea level.

Flag of Jelenje

The symbols of Jelenje are prescribed by Decision Odluka o grbu i zastavi Općine Jelenje, adopted on 23 May 1995 by the Municipality Assembly and published on 2 June 1995 in the County official gazette Službene novine Županije primorsko-goranske, No. 11.

The symbols were designed by the Heraldic Art d.o.o. company, from Rijeka, and approved by the Ministry of Administration / Central State Office for Administration before 2006.

The flag is in proportions 1:2, white with the coat of arms, bordered yellow, in the middle.

The coat of arms is "Vert a deer salient or and in base a bar wavy argent".
The arms are canting, jelen meaning "deer" in Croatian.
