Presentation of Garčin

The municipality of Garčin (4,806 inhabitants in 2011, 911 in the village of Garčin) is located some 15 km north-east of Slavonski Brod.
Gardun grad (Castellum Garchyn, aka Garcino, Garchina, Garcsin, Gergcsin, Guercino, Gurchum, Garchin, and Gerchin), first mentioned in 1474, was established on hills over the modern municipality centre.

The shield-like emblem, used at least since 2006, shows on a blue background in chief fimbriated with a chequy red and white line a marten proper and in the centre the white inscription of the municipality name surrounded with a wreath of wheat spikes, topped dexter with a bunch of yellow grapes with green leaves and sinister with an acorn proper with green leaves, and bound in the base with a red ribbon inscribed in black "Castellum Garchyn" and the year "1474".
