The coat of arms is described as "In azure heraldically stylized thunderbolt (flash)".
The thunderbolt is the heraldic charge that represents lightning, inherited from the antique symbols of Jupiter. It is shaped as a golden cigar with wings, arrows radiating from it and fire from one end.
The thunderbolt refers to the Flash (Bljesak) Operation, performed by the Croatian Defence Forces in May 1995 and liberating the region in just a few days. Okučani and the surrounding region was known as Western Slavonia, as a part of the separatist Serbian Republic of Krajina.
