Local Council of Fassuta is situated in the Upper Galilee, 4 km NE of Ma'alot and 2 km south of the Lebanese border. A Local Council from 1965 with 2500 inh., all Christians. Mistakenly overlooked in my tours, I had to rely on second hand information about the unofficial flag being white with emblem (colour not specified). The flag is thus probable pending confirmation. The municipal emblem was published in the official gazette (Rashumot), 'Publications Gazette' section (Yalkut HaPirsumim), YP 1499, 16 January 1969.

It is costumery to identify Fassuta with the ancient Jewish Mafsheta and the Crusaders era Fassuva or Fassula. Another version is that it comes from a name of Hellenic commander. The current village was established in the mid 18th century. The inhabitants are all Maronite Christians.
