The Flag

Znamierowski [zna99] shows the lion with its feet on the crown, not above them.
Phil Nelson, 6 February 2000

According to [pay00] - Governor General (1:2) - An other flag following strictly the British system, blue flag with royal crest above a golden ribbon inscribed JAMAICA. [smi82] gives the flag ratio 1:2~, and marks it as reconstruction - probably at the time it was not yet well confirmed (but now is?)

The Previous Flag during 1936 Olympic Games

image located by Esteban Rivera, 06 August 2011

Earlier today, I was idly browsing through You Tube when I came across the following link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_s_K3-FEwQA
At 2.34 minutes or thereabouts, you will see flying what appears to me to be the flag of the Governor of Jamaica. I am no student of Olympic history and do not know whether the Jamaicans took part in this Olympiad, but even if they did, this flag must surely have been hoisted in error.

Flag of the Spouse of the Governor General

image by Hemendra Bhola, 19 June 2023

I came across the image and description of the Flag of the Spouse of the Governor General of Jamaica from the King’s House/Governor General of Jamaica website. The flag is the St Edwards crown on a red field.

Status of the flag as of 2023

The Album 2023 illustrates a new flag with Tudor crown, but the Governor General still uses flag with St. Edward’s crown.

(Actually, Album des Pavillons 2023 already illustrates all Governor General flags through the entire book with new design with Tudor crown – except New Zealand.)
