Ashikaga city in Tochigi adopted its flag on November 16 1935 (very old!)
proportion: 106:115
field: purplish red
emblem: Stylized kanji Ashi (足) in gold in ancient style silver mirror.
This might be existing oldest city flag in Japan with old fashioned style
fringe.

The flag has an exact size - 106cm x 115cm. The diameter of the emblem,
including the (gold?) border of the mirror, is 37 cm. When combined with the
diagram on the page, these figures do not seem to add up properly but appear
to describe the proportions of the flag including the fringe. If I understood
correctly, the order specifies some type of silk to be used, and there is a
picture of the detail of the fringe.

The flag of the city of Ashikaga is already reported, but this is ceremonial
flag now.
