Introduction

The Financial Services Agency is the main government agency that is responsible for the regulation of securities exchanges, regulation of banks and also insurance sectors operating in Japan. It was founded as the Financial Supervisory Agency in June of 1998 and took on its present name in July of 2000. As of January 2001, it is an organ of the Cabinet Office.

Description

The emblem, introduced on January 6th 2001, is based off the English acronym of the Agency "FSA". This emblem (symbol mark) shows a river of light blue water being surrounded on the sides by a darker blue shield. The light blue "S", which represents the smooth flow of finance, also symbolizes the transparency of the Agency to the people who rely on them. As for the flag, the emblem is placed on a white field.
