In 1628, he succeeded his father's death and became the third lord of the Shibata domain in Echigo Province. The war banner has a black-and-white four-tiered stripes. The general’s standard was a gold snake's eye on a black background.

He participated in the Osaka Summer Campaign of 1615, and in 1618 was granted 100,000 goku of land in Murakami, Echigo Province. The war banner has black background with three white nail pullers. Umajirushi (a standard to stand by the general's side on the battlefield) was a gold nail puller on black background. The family emblem of nail puller means "to pull out suffering" and was considered by the warlord to be an auspicious family emblem.
