Flag

Located in Kagoshima City Kagoshima Prefecture and established in 1949. The university flag has white background with a magenta pink and blue-green emblem in the center. The university emblem was selected from among 494 entries submitted from all over Japan as part of the 50th anniversary commemorative sponsorship program. It is widely used in various printed materials published by the university. The emblem is designed with the first letter of the Kagoshima University alphabet, "K", in the shape of a "phoenix", symbolizing the graduates who are about to take off from the Kagoshima University campus, which is shining with history and tradition, and are about to fly to the world stage.
