Located in Kochi City Kochi Prefecture and established in 1949. The embroidery ceremonial flag has blue ground with a blue and sky blue emblem in the center and horizontally written white Chinese characters and English university name and gold fringe. The university flag has blue background with a blue and sky blue emblem in the center and horizontally written in white, Chinese characters and the university name in English. The new "Kochi University" was established in October 2003 through the merger of Kochi University and Kochi University of Medical Science, and an appropriate university emblem for the new Kochi University was decided through public solicitation. The university emblem combines the "K" of Kochi and the "U" of University, creating a simple, dynamic, and youthful impression. The initial "K" of the new "Kochi University" a leap forward and full of hope for the future. is used as a motif, with blue representing the waves of the Pacific Ocean and the Kuroshio Current, and sky blue representing the possibilities of youth and the sky above. The design of the emblem expresses the dynamic new "Kochi University". (Source)
