Located in Setagaya City Tokyo and established in 1958.
The embroidered ceremonial flag has crimson background with a gold emblem and kanji 大學in gold fringe.
The university flag has crimson background with a gold emblem and kanji 大學. There is a variant with the school's emblem outlined in white.
On the morning of the founding ceremony of Kokushikan High School (the predecessor of today's university), Tokujiro Shibata, the first president of the school, saw maple leaves glowing crimson in the morning sun and was reminded of the sincerity of Shoin Yoshida, and secretly decided in his heart to use maple leaves as the school emblem. In the spring of 1920, Director Shibata discussed this idea with the Kokushi Student Council which agreed to this, and the university emblem was decided upon by the consensus of the entire university: "Seven maple leaves symbolizing a patriot who survives seven times and rewards his country.
