Located in Mitaka City Kyorin and established in 1970. The embroidered ceremonial flag has red background with a gold emblem and vertically written in gold kanji university name in gold fringe. The university flag has green background with a white symbol mark and white kanji university name written horizontally. There is a variant where the university's name is written in English. The emblem is a graphic representation of the Chinese characters 杏林大學 Kyorin University. It was devised by Mr. Shinyu Matsuda, who founded the university in 1970. The symbol mark is a green triangle mark. The triangle represents the interconnectedness of the three elements of the founding spirit "Quest for Truth, Goodness, and Beauty. Supported by the same force from both sides, the stable and unchanging horns represent "true," the horns surrounded by rich curves represent "good," the horns stretching to the sky in beautiful curves represent "beauty," and the Kyorin="apricot tree" represents the new wind that will advance "contribution to society," which is what "apricot tree" means.
