Located in Matsue City Shimane Prefecture and established in 1949. The university flag has white background with a blue and orange emblem in the center. The emblem symbolizes Shimane University's rapid growth and development as a university with the blue U of the Sea of Japan, and the pursuit of learning that fosters love of intellect and sensitivity with orange door and a book.
