Municipalities:

Overview

Here is now my drawing of the flag of the Prienai Region Municipality. this Municipality, is located in Lithuania. (An other name which can be found is district of Prienai). The flag is a square banner of the arms. It represents Saint George and the dragon.

Prienai - on a blue field a silver armed St. George with purpure (dark red: the red colour above is wrong) cloak mounted on brown horse slays with a black lance a green dragon spitting red flame. Flag proportions 10:11, fringe is silver, finial is silver tip, staff is black. The charge of arms granted in 1791 should symbolize the fight against evil coming from outside (Prussia was obviously first in mind).
Though the arms violate some heraldic rules of colour (quite a common matter in the late 18th century), the Lithuanian Heraldry Commission decided to keep the arms as close to the privilege, as possible. So only the necessary cleansing of colours and the slight improvements of charge were performed.
