Founded in 1939, the PAN was the first political movement to stand against
the total domination of the PRI.
Its political program is influenced by
catholicism and economic liberalism. It is actively supported by a part of
the industry leaders. The PAN actually governs the states of
Baja California,
Chihuahua,
Guanajuato and
Jalisco.
One of the PAN members was for a few months Attorney General under the
current presidence.

The flag was frequently used during the Vicente Fox's campaign for
Presidency in July 2000. It was white with the PAN logo and something
like a galaxy in orange, the other party's color.
