The official flag of the municipality of Krimpen aan den IJssel has
been adopted by the municipal council on 5 Apr 2001.
The colors have partly been taken from the municipal arms (white and
black), and the national colors of the Netherlands have been added. The
white lines in the flag symbolize the big rivers running through Krimpen,
and converging at the point of the Stormpolder. For recognizability the
Coat of Arms has been placed over the two black triangles. The application of the
colors of the Dutch tricolor accentuates Krimpen aan den IJssel's position
in The Kingdom of The Netherlands.
