Recently the city of Hildesheim, Germany, hosted a meeting of the expatriated people from Lauban, a town in Silesia; its Polish name is Luban. In honour of the meeting, the town hall flew the flag of Hildesheim and a red-black bicolour for Lauban.
The current flag of the town is a red-black bicolour with a white pair
of crossed keys. I assume that the plain bicolour was the flag of the town
before 1945 and that the Germans of Lauban therefore use the flag in this
form. In fact, the "Städtebuch" (Book of Cities) of 1939 names red
and black as the colours of the town.
