An agricultural commune; land under cultivation - 64%; forests - 31%.
The territory of the commune witnessed numerous invasions of the Tatars,
Lithuanians, Ruthenians and Swedes.
In 1863 the rebels were battling the Russian Cossacks nearby.
During WW I, site of the two big battles between the Austro-Hungarian
and Russian Armies (Battles of Krasnik I and II).
Resisting the Nazi occupation were partizan units of AK (Home Army),
NSZ (National Armed Forces - rightists) and GL (People's Guard - communist).
All this brought heavy casualties and destruction of the infrastructure.
Presently, a substantial number of the inhabitants of the commune finds employment at Tsubaki-Hoover Polska LLC, a subsidiary of Tsubaki Nakashima, which manufactures ball and roller bearings.
Arms and flag adopted on August 31, 2007 (resolution # XI/45/2007).
