Uście Gorlickie - rural commune, Gorlice County, Małopolskie Voivodship - former name: Uście Ruskie (until 1950); even older name: Uście Wołoskie.
Founded in XVth Century, was one of the first Łemko settlements in Poland. Site of the well-kept World War I cemetery with the graves of Austro-Hungarian and Russian soldiers, designed by Dušan Jurkovič (famous Slovak architect).
My paternal grandfather was mortally wounded nearby, in the Battle of Gorlice. He was an officer in the Hungarian Hussars regiment.
Present Arms and flag of the commune were adopted on April 27, 2005 (resolution # XXVI/249/05)
"Arms: on the late-gothic Spanish-style red shield there is a silver (white) glass crystal and the shooting spring above it.
The crystal is partially encircled by two golden laurel branches, crossed.
Flag: a rectangle in the proportions 5:8 divided vertically 1:1.
Free part (fly) is further divided into three horizontal bands: white-red-yellow.
The vertical band at the hoist is red and carries the Coat of Arms of the commune."

The older version of the Arms and the flag was in use from 1993 to 2005 and was adopted on February 25, 1993 (resolution # XX/150/93)
