First mentioned in 1279. Granted city rights in 1383. Heavy fighting
in the first days of WW II for the railroad junction within the city.
Site of the biggest prison in Poland. Machine tool industry, other
metallurgical enterprises, furniture and potatoeś processing plant.
We have the flag on FOTW page already, but it is wrong one. (Image by
Pascal Gross 6 Dec 2002 and based, possibly, on the information provided
to you by one Chrystian Kretowicz, 21 Dec 2002).
But, if so, I don't take a blame, as it was within the days of the
flag change instituted by the city and as we all know very well, the new
information is seldom available
on the webpages, if at all.
The new flag was adopted on December 18, 2002 (resolution # II/14/2002)
and is described as follows:
"Flag of the City of Wronki has the shape of the rectangle of 60 cm
wide and 120 cm long.
It is composed of five horizontal bands.
The bands are in sequence from top to bottom: green-black-white-black-green.
The outside bands are green and their width is 18.33 cm each.
The middle band is white and its width is 18.34 cm.
The green bands are separated from the white one by the black stripes
of the width of 2,5 cm each.
The flag is identical on both sides and can be attached to the mast
from either right or left edge."
The above is signed and certified by the Council Chairlady - Ms.Grazyna
Gromadzinska-Kopras, so it is very official.
