Shield Sable with base wavy of Argent and Azure, a lying crescent Argent between two paly tanner's clubs Or, in chief two keys crossed pe saltire, one Argent and the other Or. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black initials: "FREGUESIA DE ALCANENA".
Meaning:
The crescent is referring to the Moorish origin of the settlement, having then the name "Al-Kaninan" or "Alcanina". The keys are attributed of St. Peter, the local patron saint. The clubs are typical tools of the local tanning industry. The base wavy is representing the River Alviela.

Alcanena Commune was one of the pre-2013 communes of Alcanena Municipality (q.v.); it had 4131 inhabitants in 2011 and covered 10.3 km².

Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank)and white scroll reading in black initials: "VILA MOREIRA"
Meaning:
The rose in the arms is the symbol of Our Lady of Conception, the local patron saint. The oak tree represents the many oak forests in the region, which became a base of tanning industry. The two tools are iron tools used in cleaning and tanning hides. The base shows the Alviela and Carvalha rivers in the municipality.
