Shield Or with base wavy of Azure and Argent, a cross fleury fitchy Gules flanked by two griffins rampant combatant Purpure. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials: "LARANJEIRO - ALMADA".
Meaning:
Due to mythology griffins are representing a symbiosis of force, loyalty, facileness and perspicacity, especially for the commune representing the search for perfection of the inhabitants and the contradictions of human society. The purple colour for itself is representing wisdom and science and is here expressing dignity, authority, respect and duty. The cross is representing the Order of Santiago, which played an important role in the region for centuries. The red colour is symbolizing the way of light, the centre of life, heat, fire, energy and joy. The base wavy is representing River Tejo, one border of the commune.
