It is a fairly typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain yellow field (village rank).
António Martins-Tuválkin, 27 June 2008
The arms are Azure a sun Or and in chief two bunches of grapes Purpure leaved Or and in base six ears of wheat set three to the dexter and three to the sinister and tied Gules. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "FREGUESIA DE CUBA".
"Cuba" means tub, but this symbolism is as absent in these arms as in those of the synonym Municipality, with which some elements are shared, namely wheat and grapes. The sun is shown with eight straight rays (cardinal and collateral) alternating with wavy ones; it shows facial features, but no line marks the disc away from the rays.
