Coat of Arms

Shield Azure with base Argent semi of wavelets Azure, issuant from base two storks addorsed Argent armed Or, issuant from chief a radiant sun Or. Mural crown with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case serifed letters "UNIÃO DAS FREGUESIAS DE LAGOA E CARVOEIRO".
Meaning:
The base with wavelet is a representation of the name giving lagoon (Port.: lagoa) Each stork is a representation of a former commune. Storks live in the lagoon mentioned above. Please note that the storks are - despite of beak and legs - actually depicted as proper with partially black feathers. The radiant sun is symbolising tourism and Carvoeira Beach.

Lagoa e Carvoeiro is one of the communes of Lagoa Municipality established by the mergers of 2013; it had 10.141 inhabitants in 2021 and covered 39,1 km².

Coat of Arms

Shield Vert with base wavy of Argent and Azure, a grapevine fruited of the same at dexter and an amphora Argent at sinister, in central chief an 8-point star Or charged with a candle Gules flamed of the same, Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials: "FREGUESIA DE LAGOA".
Meaning:
The candle is representing the numerous candle factories in the commune. It is probably also an attribute of Our Lady of the Light, the local patron saint. The bunch of grapes is representing the local viticulture. The amphora is representing the local olive oil factories. The base wavy is symbolising the lagoons drying out today and are a canting element. The green colour of the shield is representing agriculture as economic base of the commune during many centuries. The 8-point star is the actual attribute of the patron saint, Our Lady of the Light.

Shield Azure, base wavy Vert fimbriated Argent with platform issuant Gules crowned by a throughout embattled wall Argent masoned Sable with open gate, in base a fish Argent, in chief a radiant demi-sun flanked by the Christian king's head at dexter and the Moorish king's head at sinister. Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials: "CARVOEIRO - LAGOA".

Presentation of Carvoeiro

Carvoeiro as one of the pre-2013 communes of Lagoa Municipality; it had 2721 inhabitants in 2011 and covered 14,1 km². The commune was established on 4 October 1985 and gained the title of a town on 19 April 2001.
