The arms are Vert a Paschal Lamb Argent nimbed Or with a pendon Argent on a staff Or and charged with a cross throughout Gules, in chief a baron's coronet Proper. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "BARÃO DE SÃO JOÃO - LAGOS".
Meaning:
The name of the commune means "Baron of St. John". St. John the Baptist is also the local patron saint. The arms are thus canting.
