It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain green field.

The shield is Or, a crozier Gules between two branches Vert in pale, with the dexter of cork oak acorned Gules and the sinister of olive fruited Sable, in base a heraldic fountain. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers «according to the law» and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "CARRAPATAS - MACEDO DE CAVALEIROS".

Carrapatas Commune is one of the 30 communes of Macedo de Cavaleiros Municipality; it had 197 inhabitants in 2011 and covers 6.7 km².
