The shield is Argent, parted by a pall Azure, charged with 12 waves Argent, in fork extended to an heraldic fountain , flanked by two twigs of chestnut Vert fruited Or, the nuts slit Gules, in chief a local Shrovetide mask Or garnished Gules and Vert. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "PODENCE"
Meaning:
The conjoined pall and heraldic fountain stand for the Azibo Reservoir, where this commune is located. The Shrovetide mask (Port.: careto) stands for the local tradition of merrymaking, stemming from pre-Christian rites of coming-of-age — see examples of this mask type here, here and here.
