It is an unusual Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a field parted per saltire into purple and green.

Shield Azure, issuant from base a mount Vert, topped by a pillory Or, charged with a belfry Or, flanked by a bleeding heart Gules (very light shade) pierced Argent at dexter and a rooster statant Sable armed and beaked Gules at sinister. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black capitals "FREGUESIA DE LOUREDO".
Meaning:
The heart is that one of Inês de Castro, according to the description quoted here - We don't know, how the event of her tragic murder is related to this commune. See more details here!
