Shield Argent parted by two barrulets Azure, in chief scales Azure balanced by an upright flamy sword Or, in base an olive branch Vert fruited Sable flanked by two millstones Gules. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials: "S. MIGUEL DE POIARES".
Meaning:
Sword and scales are attributes of St. Michael, name giver of the commune and local patron saint.

São Miguel de Poiares is one of the four communes of the Vila Nova de Poiares municipality; it had 1331 inhabitants in 2011 and covers 20,7 km².
